A photograph of SCP-XXXX taken by Dr. Clare. It is to be noted that, growing up, she had a family dog of a similar appearance.

Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-XXXX focuses on the suppression of knowledge of the existence of the entity instead of physical containment. Archon-class objects can be contained, but should not be.

Recovered individuals reported missing for a period longer than three days in undeveloped areas, such as reservations and natural parks, are to be taken into Foundation custody and interviewed prior to any media appearances. If these individuals show knowledge of SCP-XXXX, they are to be amnesticized and given false memories to justify their prolonged existence in the wilderness without food or water.

No attempts at detaining the entity are to be made, to ensure good relations between The Foundation and SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a metamorphic entity capable of ontokinesis The manipulation of reality, colloquially referred to as reality-bending., currently classified as a Class-II ontokinetic. SCP-XXXX has shown to be extremely benevolent and nonhostile in most circumstances, and actively aids Foundation agents where applicable. SCP-XXXX has only ever been sighted during SAFE Events.

SAFE Events are commenced when an individual(s) (hereafter referred to as subject) goes missing or becomes lost for a prolonged period of time The shortest amount of time recorded that led to a SAFE Event was three days, while the longest was ten days.. Not all scenarios that fit the above description will trigger SAFE Events, and no more than one can concurrently occur. SAFE Events consist of SCP-XXXX manifesting near the subject's last known location and actively pursuing them, regularly finding the subject within three hours of manifesting. The method by which the entity tracks down the subject is unknown and currently under investigation. Once SCP-XXXX reaches the subject, the entity will introduce itself in an amicable manner and proceed to ectoentrophically produce food and water for the subject An ectoentrophic object breaks the laws of thermodynamics. In this instance, SCP-XXXX is generating matter from no apparent source.. If necessary, SCP-XXXX will provide medical attention to the subject. Once the subject is well-fed and rested, SCP-XXXX will lead them to the nearest human settlement, and will demanifest immediately prior to the subject being seen by another human. SCP-XXXX will also serve to protect the subject, deterring any would-be attackers and, if need be, terminating them.

SCP-XXXX will generally take upon an appearance of an animal the subject would find comforting and inviting. Alongside this, SCP-XXXX is believed to have empathic characteristics, as individuals who are usually fearful of wild animals will not display any fear response to the entity.

SCP-XXXX was first discovered by The Foundation in 2013 by Dr. Kassidy Clare. Dr. Clare was walking near Boone, North Carolina when she was separated from the rest of her group and became lost in the Appalachian Mountains. After five days of wandering, SCP-XXXX found her and tended to her left leg and right arm, both of which she had severely fractured, then proceeded to feed Dr. Clare. The morning afterwards, SCP-XXXX led her back to Area-54, demanifesting before the patrolling security detail spotted Dr. Clare.

NOTABLE INCIDENTS

The following is an abridged list of SAFE Events. To see a full list of known SAFE Events, please contact the Project Lead for SCP-XXXX.

Name of Subject Description Notes
Asmita Chaudhari 13/10/2014. Chaudhari was visiting Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu with her family when she became separated. After four days of being lost in the forest, SCP-XXXX manifested as a Melursus Ursinus (sloth bear) and located Chaudhari. Once together, SCP-XXXX produced star fruits and wood apples for Chaudhari to eat, then allowed her to rest for a period of 2 days. During the journey back to Thorapply, SCP-XXXX defended Chaudhari from a Panthera t. Tigris (Bengal tiger). The entity was noted as taking care as to not cause major injury to the animal and warded it off after a series of attacks. The rest of the event was unnoteworthy. N/A

O' Diary of mine,

I'm going hiking with friends of mine this weekend, at Great Smoky. Asked my parents if I could go, and they just shrugged and nodded. Don't they realize none of us even have driving licenses? Eh, whatever. What matters is that I'm gonna have a blast up there. I'm sure of it.

Dear Diary,

Starting to have second thoughts about hiking. You know how exhausted you get after social interactions? I'm already starting to feel like that just thinking about the trip. I'd cancel, but.. We're leaving today, and I'd feel awful cancelling last minute like this. Plus, I already got everything packed. Don't really feel like taking it all out… I'll still go. Just got this nagging voice in the back of my head telling me not to, though.
