CLASS:SAFE top-secret

DISRUPTION CLASS: KRUONIS

SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES

Knowledge of the existence of SCP-XXXX is currently kept confined to the current head of the Memetic Department and the O5 Council..KRUONIS-class items are anomalies that occurred prior to the Foundation's establishment and pose little to no threat.

Archaeological sites containing cave art from Homo Sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis are to be infiltrated by Foundation agents. Any findings related to SCP-XXXX are to be destroyed.

DESCRIPTION

SCP-XXXX

A cave painting of a human wielding a club. The painting is fairly detailed except for the face, which has no identifiable features.

Recreation of cave painting in SCP-6875.

SCP-XXXX is an anomalous event that occurred approximately 52,000 years ago. The exact specifics of SCP-XXXX are unknown, but is known to have directly impacted human and Homo neanderthalensis populations of the time. This is reflected in the art of the time, specifically the lack of faces in cave paintings.

Severe migraines have been reported by personnel attempting to research SCP-XXXX beyond the information available on this page, with those pushing beyond these migraines reporting brain haemorrhage and, in one case, brain death..this could be worded oh so much better. it's not really an infohazard but more so that the proto-humans put some psionic wards on it so it hurts anyone that tries to study it. like it deals psychic damage until they either give up or die. - TopDownUnder

ADDENDUM.XXXX.1

DISCOVERY

SCP-XXXX was originally discovered via a containment chamber in SCP-6875. The following is the original entry made for the chamber.

Designation Description Chamber Modification Chamber Drawing
SCP-6875-Memory The chamber walls are covered in etchings of humans, uncharacteristically detailed. The humans are depicted either holding their hands over their face to block something or holding their hands up in worship. Of note is that each figure has had its head either etched over or left undrawn. The only exception to this is a group of three figures on the ceiling of the chamber, with extremely detailed, smiling faces. The identity of these figures is currently unknown, with speculation that they may be an undiscovered species of archaic humans, based on their similarities to other species in the Homo genus.. No entrance to this chamber exists, with the only indication of its presence being the drawing outside. A group of humans without faces are shown kneeling. Next to them is a standing human with a half-drawn face, doubled over in pain.

Other sites similar to SCP-6875 worldwide contain chambers similar to the one described, usually towards the deeper parts of the structure. Analysis of these chambers reveals low levels of decaying Akiva radiation.
