Realmbreaker tore through the canopy, ripping through the mossy carpet and into Moag's earth. The metal-rich soil of the summer plane was savoured by the Invasion Tree's branches. Another branch dug through the Fields of Summer, scaring off herds of centaurs and lone dryads. Pods dropped from the branches, from which hordes of the Furnace and Etched Hosts emerged, running through the plane's forests and plains. Dryads shielded groves from the Furnace Host's unbridled flame and centaurs swung wildly at the Etched Host's doombringers.
The ground quaked as the plane's timberfolk awoke, elevating forests as they emerged from the land. They surveyed the invasion with indifferent faces, following the branches up to the sky. The oldest amongst them remembered an ancient planeswalker warning them of such invaders. They remembered the scars dealt when they came looking for the planeswalker. They remembered how they had lost a fire god of olden days to these invaders. They remembered swearing never to let such a tragedy occur again.
With a rage unlike them, the timberfolk attacked the Phyrexians, crushing the invaders underneath and ripping the branches out from the ground, patching up the holes left in the earth by Realmbreaker. They grabbed branches as they snaked out from the portals in the sky, blocking them before they could touch Moag.
A timberfolk bent down to aid a group of dryads shielding a group of young centaurs against a Phyrexian beast. The giant froze in its tracks as an awful, grinding noise was heard. A hole was punched through the timberfolk as a behemoth tore through it from behind. It ripped into the timberfolk's carcass with its copper jaws, its brethren attacking the other timberfolk with equal ferocity. They fell as quickly as they had emerged from the ground, overwhelmed by the Copper Host's titans.
In a far-off forest, far from the sites of invasion, safe from the worst of the Phyrexians, a single behemoth tore through a grove of dryads, caught off-guard by the lone monster. The beast tore through the trees, devouring the helpless inhabitants. One such dryad, impaled through the stomach by a splinter of a tree, crawled towards the edge of the grove. She reached for a bush, within which a single insect resided. It chittered as it observed the dying dryad.
"Please, help us…"
The behemoth stomped on the dryad, splashing its blood on the bush. The insect, covered in blood, looked at the dead body, cleaning its face off with its forearms. After a moment of silence, it flew off into the forest. As the giant tore through the grove, the chittering turned into a hum, turned into a buzz, turned into a blaring. The Phyrexian turned to look at the greater forest, watching as a black cloud rose from the canopy.
The last of the timberfolk held their ground, defending the dryads and centaurs hidden in their branches, holding back the titans of New Phyrexia. The goblins of the Furnace Host nipped at their roots as the Copper Hosts rammed against the barrier of bark. Little mites had begun to squeeze through the gaps in the trees, biting and scratching at the forestfolk within, when a loud buzzing filled the air. The goblins looked back, leaves grinding in their metallic teeth, to see the sun vanishing behind a thick blanket of darkness.
A goblin crawled its way up one of the titans, climbing and jumping up the metal edifice. It scrambled onto the giant's head and stared up at the miasma. Before it could peer deeply into it, the swarm descended on the invaders, the sound of buzzing growing louder and louder. They completely engulfed the titan and the goblin. After a few seconds, the swarm split from the titan, leaving behind only its skeleton.
