SCP-8473

Item #: SCP-8473

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8473 is currently being held at Site-45. An instance of SCP-8473 must be stored within a test tube inside of 12cmx12cm (5inx5in) airtight container. The anomaly must not be allowed contact with any other individuals or anomalous entities except in controlled testing environments. It must not be handled without professional procedures to avoid infection.

If exposed, individuals are advised to get within cold (below 0°C 32°ꜰ) temperatures with a surplus of water. Individuals should drink the water until they are physically unable to.

The anomaly can be contained by the room it was released in being turned down to subzero temperatures. From there, SCP-8473 can be shown forming in a puddle of whatever substance it was shown as before the tube was open or broken.

Staff clearance level 3 and higher are permitted access to the anomaly, lower levels with specific granted permission.

Description: SCP-8473 is often described as a pathogen, plague, or, less formally by Dr. Illinois, “A ████ of a ‘nomaly.” SCP-8473 is often seen as a light purple, liquid-like substance or a dark red, jelly-like substance within its tube. Once released from the tube, the anomaly cannot be seen within the oxygen molecules around the release location, as it takes effect on the releaser at approx. fifteen seconds.

Once infected, person(s) must be treated as soon as possible. Anomaly shown to be untreatable after three minutes of infection. Infected will begin to have severe hallucinations and begin to gain the feeling of breathlessness after five. The panic the victim experiences will cause their body temperature to rise, making the pathogen’s ability to spread more evident; overall easier for it to kill the victim off.

After being infected for thirty minutes, the victim will begin to gain a hole that slowly grows in size through the centre of their chest. Victim will still be alive during this.

Addendum-8473-001: Best chance of receiving the lowest amount of suffering after three minutes has been shown to be having the victim shot through the skull by a faculty member. Easiest chance of this succeeding has been proven to be with the following types of ammunition:

  • Wadcutter
  • Semi-Jacketed
  • Jacketed Hollow Point
  • RCBD
