ITEM: SCP-XXXX LEVEL 3/XXXX
CLASS: EUCLID confidential

DISRUPTION CLASS: vlam

SPECIAL CONTAINMENT PROCEDURES

SCP-XXXX is remotely monitored by SCPS Arixmethes. A maritime exclusion zone of 15 nautical miles is maintained around SCP-XXXX under the cover of unexploded ordnance. Civilian vessels entering the zone are to be redirected via the cover story.

No personnel are to land on SCP-XXXX or make contact with any material collected from it without an EVE-Insulated Exposure Suit. Several suits are to be kept available to Project Dweller for use on SCP-XXXX.

The substructure containing SCP-XXXX-BLAST is restricted to personnel assigned to Project Dweller. SCP-XXXX-BLAST is not to be moved, activated, or tested pending further study. The substructure is under continuous remote EVE monitoring; any fluctuations are to be immediately reported.

DESCRIPTION

SCP-XXXX is an uninhabited island in the Aegean Sea, first brought to Foundation attention in 1986 after a Greek survey team failed to return. A recovery vessel was sent, but also failed to return.

Subsequent testing and study by the Foundation determined that SCP-XXXX serves as an Elan-Vital Vacuum. SCP-XXXX maintains an EVE reading of absolute zero across its entire landmass. Any organisms that make physical contact with SCP-XXXX are drained of their EVE within seconds, which is then dispersed across the island faster than it can be replenished. As biological function is dependent on EVE, this invariably results in the death of any life on SCP-XXXX.

The origin of SCP-XXXX's effect or the mechanism behind it is currently unknown. The island's absence of the historical record further impedes research into it. Additionally, SCP-XXXX's effect rendered manned exploration of it impossible.
